On a recent jaunt to the local Banana Republic, I found a pair of heels that is cute, comfortable and on sale for only $45. Which is a bargain for BP shoes.
My Reasonable Voice struggled with my Gimme Voice.
Gimme Voice: You can wear those shoes anywhere.
Reasonable Voice: Do you want those shoes or do you want a condo?
Gimme Voice: But you can buy the shoes now, whereas you’d have to wait years for the condo.
Reasonable Voice: Well, that is true. Quite reasonable.
Me: You’re supposed to be convincing me not to get those shoes!
Reasonable Voice: Oops.
The verdict? I put down those shoes and walked out of the store. Am I proud of myself? You bet your suede stacked 3-inch heels I am! They weren’t that wonderful, anyhow. Hmph!
P.S. I also passed on a lace skirt with scalloped edging on sale for $35 from Banana. My discipline astounds even myself.

I find it to be REALLY helpful not to go in the stores when I don’t want to buy things. My reasonable voice never speaks loud enough.
I agree with a strange bird… particularly when it comes to the banana. Banana Republic is one of my worst weaknesses, I can always find something to buy in there so I stay out!
Nice job! I love Banana Republic though…
I totally cheat on this by only allowing myself to go to stores where I have gift cards or merchandise credits. Almost guilt free ….
