I’ve been spending a lot of money at Starbucks, where I study. (<– see how the “where I study” is correctly modifying “Starbucks”?)
I’ve been interested to see all the changes that Starbucks has been going through: the closing of hundreds of stores, the introduction of a membership card and the same-day coupon, and the offering of new summer drinks. (<– again, can we just note the parallelism of the sentence and the correct use of the colon?)
Anyhow, I LOVE the new Pinkberry Sorbetto. If I’m going to study, I might as well have something yummy to drink! But I miss the availability of a free study place. Oh to be a college student again.
P.S. Lately, I’ve felt that I don’t have much to write about… because nothing different is happening in my financial life. So if you have any suggestions for blog posts, please let me know. Maybe I’ll be inspired.

Let me know if there is anything you would want to write about!
You could just skip Starbucks and study at home or the public library. From TheStreet.com:
“Don’t go: Let’s begin with the obvious. By far the best way to save on those overpriced coffee products is to simply not go. While the thought may seem impossible as you read this, if you can make it through the first two weeks, you are well on your way to breaking the habit. Doing so could place about $1,000 into your bank account in a year’s time if you currently visit on a daily basis. Not an option? Here are nine more ways to save money.”
I would suggest the public library too. I haven’t been to one since I was young (because I am still in school) but I hear it is actually pretty great. Maybe find a newly renovated one…new buildings always motivate me for some reason.
Post more pictures of shoes! Haha.
There are always the basic fall-backs: starting creating monthly goals and providing updates (can be good for at least 2 posts per month, more if you have weekly updates). I always like reading posts about what people accidentally spent too much money on, want to spend too much money on, or what they managed to spend very little money on. Keeping a notepad next to you to quickly jot down ideas for posts might be useful as well. If I have a problem or want opinions, I will post about it so that I can get opinions from others. I always manage to find someone who looks at things from a completely different point of view, or someone will suggest a path I hadn’t even thought of.
I like studying at bookstores. Our B&N has big long tables, and I almost never get a coffee when I sit there because I’m so afraid of knocking it over. If you can avoid the books, that’s a fun place to study.
I second (third?) the public library… I study there often as an adult (work full time and go to grad school at night) and find it 1) affordable, 2) quiet and 3) free wifi.
Why not say ‘I’ve been spending a lot of money studying at Starbucks.’?
That uses one word instead of three. Or use ‘while studying’. That saves one word instead of two.
Just curious. Good luck studying.
As a girl who has decided the dash replaces nearly all punctuation–(see?)–I’m quite impressed with your proper grammar and punctuation. Nice job!
I still study at the local university, it is freely open to the public.
I would go to the public library, except that by the time I get out of work and have dinner, the library’s already closed. If I want to start studying from 9PM on, my choices are pretty much limited to Starbucks or the local bookstore (where you have a buy a drink to sit at the cafe area). So.. that’s basically a wash. And Starbucks is really close.
I have only occasionally been to Starbucks, and that only for the internet. Nowadays I have a plug in modem that I can carry with me wherever I go, and I am online.
Is there a reason you can’t study at home? I actually focus better at home than elsewhere.
Other options would be:
1. A college/university library. The university library nearest me doesn’t check for a university ID– you can just walk in.
2. At your workplace. If nobody else is there and you’re not charging them for the time, it’s not like anyone is going to comment on your working on something else at your desk.
3. At a friend’s house. This would only work if it’s a supportive friend who isn’t going to facilitate procrastination. I would have a hard time not socializing instead of working, so this wouldn’t be the best option for me, but you may do better.
