To accept advertising on this blog.
I’ve been writing Well-Heeled for over 2 years, and have so far had minimal advertising. I dislike cluttered interfaces and didn’t pursue many advertising opportunities because of that reason.
But, I’ve decided that I will accept Sponsored Links (see sidebar to the right… a link will go up within the next several days) at my personal discretion, i.e. no gambling or adult sites. The money I receive from advertising will go to my Freedom Fund. I’m not trying to become a full-time blogger, but every little bit helps.
I hope this decision doesn’t turn off any readers. If you have any input / advice, please chime in on the comments!

Good for you!!
A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. If you can rack it in, you go girl!
There’s accepting ads and there’s ACCEPTING ADS. This looks like a good middle ground for you.
I’ll be interested to see what you take. One of the reasons I decided not to take ads was because of their low quality: payday loans, sketchy mortgage things, even a very sketch HSA. Maybe your advertisers are classier.
There is some question (in my head!) if wordpress.com blogs are allowed advertising. Adsense isn’t allowed, but unobtrusive sponsored links might be. You might want to check on it.
Anyway, i hope it is allowed, every little bit helps!
I think you should do it! I love reading your blog, and any incentive to keep you writing sounds good to me!
Do it up!!! There is no harm in making a little extra….your writing is fab and ads would not stop me from reading
I’d say go for it, and even if anything you should think about opening up your own URL page; through Google it’s like 1.99 a year for the domain *at least 1.99 for the first year* .. And you can do advertising links there (if it’s not allowed on WordPress) and hopefully, I’m sure of it, that advertising would outpay the fee for the domain and give you extra money towards your freedom fund.
Benefits of your own domain:
-Your own name, creating more of a brand
-More space to load to
-You can also personalize it (I have a webpage that has my resume posted so when applying to jobs they can look at the website to see my portfolio and things)
-email address @yourdomainname.com
Downfalls:
-Need to have a little experience in creating a webpage (a lot of places have starter webpages)
-Advertising hopefully will offset the domain fees but if you don’t get the clicks, it may not.
I don’t think you have to ask for our approval. Adding a simple advertisement to your site does not change how readers read your site (unless it’s like crazy pop-up ads and ads placed over every single empty space on the site). And if it brings in some extra income, that’s super for you!
Anything to earn extra money is great (as long as it isn’t illegal)! I would put up advertising also, if I thought I would get anything significant back…
