Fans of Domino know that Conde Nast announced the decor magazine’s demise in January and published the last issue of Domino this month. New York Times even ran an article on it.
Well, guess what? I snagged a copy of the March 2009 issue at my local Walgreens ($3.50).

I only discovered Domino a few months ago, and was ready to become a subscriber. Now that the magazine will be no more, I kind of wish I would’ve subscribed since the beginning. Then I can cut and clip and make a giant My Domino scrapbook. Oh well.
The last paid subscription I had was the Wall Street Journal Online during college, but now that I’m finally ready to make a commitment to a “fun” magazine, Domino is gone.
Perhaps Real Simple or Lucky can fill the void.

That’s a bummer. I subscribe to Fast Company and Inc. they are fairly cheap and might be up your alley. They are about entrepreneurial ventures and socially conscious businesses. I get both as a package for $15 per year.
I stole a issue from work about two years ago because Betsey Johnson’s house was on it. I’m sad because even though their ideas weren’t the most frugal, some were very creative.
I’m quite sad. I read domino every month at my weekend job. Coworker has a subscription that she leaves for us to read. I was seriously tempted to make it my next subscription.
Why commit? You can read so many great magazines at the gym. I use my cardio days to read the “lifestyle porn” magazines like In Style, GQ, etc. Then they go back on the front table for everyone else to read.
Is this true?? I have a Domino subscription and I love that magazine. Do you remember Blue Print? It was a Domino-type magazine from Martha Stewart’s magazine company. It was 3x better than Domino but they went adios 2 years ago. I am ssadd..
One of the magazines I subscribed to folded last year, Cottage Living. I admit I haven’t seen domino before. I got away from reading magazines a few years ago, they were giving me lifestyle envy.
In law school I subscribed to one of those gossip magazines–Us Weekly maybe? Totally embarrassing but it was such a needed mental vacation. I have found ReadyMade good for a fun, picture-heavy read, or Bust.
I will miss Domino, I had been a reader since the magazine started in 2005. I had a subscription for about a year and after that would always thumb through it while in the grocery store or bookstore. It was a great idea magazine and many home mags don’t focus on a younger demographic like Domino did.
I just discovered domino, too, and was sad it was shutting down.
I discovered this magazine about two years ago. I have some of the older issues in which I liked their articles.
I love Lucky–how can you go wrong with ex-Sassy staff writers on the masthead?
I’m really digging the niche magazine Atomic Ranch lately. If you’re into midcentury style and furniture and architecture, it’s super cool!
I have a subscription to Lucky. I just like looking at the clothes, shoes, and handbags, but I can’t afford 99% of the stuff.
I like Fast Company, but I mostly read it online. As for a print magazine, I’m looking for something more… fun and frilly.
