To continue with my 30 before 30 goals, here are the educational / self-development goals I want to achieve in the next 5.5 years.
1. Get an MBA from a respectable school that will round out my business, analytical, and “softer” people skills.
2. Learn to speak Business Chinese, preferably through an immersion program in China. (Later in my career I want to do a stint in China).
3. Learn to speak Conversational Spanish, preferably through an immersion program in Latin America (Chile? Ecuador? Argentina?)
4. Take a class or a workshop in negotiations where students conduct mock negotiations.
5. Take a session of cooking classes. (In France, I hope, but… in the States is okay too).
6. Take a class in real estate principles / finance. I’ve always found real estate interesting, and would love to get some foundational knowledge.

Try Babbel.com for the Spanish, it’s great – it feels more like having fun that studying, and yet it works.
If you want to be conversant in Spanish, you might want to focus on countries other than Argentina. Their Spanish tends to run more Castillian, and you’ll end up picking up that weird accent that will baffle (or annoy) any other Latin American Spanish speaker. Are you considering Mexico at all?
Amazing list – great ideas! I’ve never heard of a negotiating workshop but I bet it would be really useful. I’ve always had a bit of a fantasy about going on a weeks cooking course in Tuscany…
fyi…as a woman who is 30, life doesn’t end. If youth is wasted on anyone, it’s those who forget they are young. Instead of trying to master the world, goof off, make bad decisions, and enjoy what little time you have to be carefree. Life doesn’t end at 30, it only gets better.
I’ve been to Argentina, and I LOVE the Argentine accent. Specifically the “sh” sound in place of the “y” and the fact that portenos say “chau” (like Italian ciao) for goodbye.
Mexico is also definitely a possibility.
I second what Allie said!
I’m in my early 30s and so far, my 30s have been WAY better than my 20s! I met some of my goals in my 20s, but I’m still looking forward to meeting bigger and better goals in my 30s and beyond.
Well in that case
I guess it depends on why you want to learn Spanish!
