You should be able to get some 3-4 star hotels for less than $200. I know Sheraton here in Seattle is running some specials right now ($85/night) so maybe it's a countrywide phenomenon? Either way, what you're doing is very thoughtful and they're sure to truly enjoy the amenities of a nicer place. Are you looking through Orbitz/Expedia? And I can completely relate, I know that I'm perfectly happy in budget places and that my mom wouldn't mind. But at the same time, it's not quite "present-like" (to me, anyway) if it isn't something special, which generally winds up being more expensive. That’s a great present!
