On blogging:
Carnival of Personal Finance is up at Fabulously Broke! My post Friendships Borne of a Transactional Relationship (when you should leave money out of it?) is included.
The What’s In Your Bag Contest entries will be posted later today or tomorrow – I’ve received many great entries and can’t wait to share with you all.
On job search:
There’s been a few developments on the job front. No details because I don’t want to jinx anything, but if the news is good I’ll definitely share (if not, then I’m going to keep mum and drown my disappointment in boba milk tea). The pessimist in me says the news won’t be good, but I’ve done the best I can – will just have to see what happens.
On personal:
Tango is going well, I’m slowly getting used to dancing in 3.5-inch stilettos. There are a few gentlemen that I’ve danced with who have only started tango less than a year ago – and they are amazing leaders. In fact, one of the reasons I’ve stuck with this instructor is because if he can make the leads so great (and leading parts are more difficult to learn), then he must be able to make me (a follower) really good as well.
Chinese is going fairly well too – I’m starting to read a book by a noted Chinese author (pen name Sanmao) who wrote a series of short stories on her travels. My lessons have included useful business vocabulary such as “revenue”, “profits”, “cost”, “retail”, “industry” in Chinese.
On family:
One of the unexpected blessings of unemployment is the chance to spend more time with Mom. Yay for mother-daughter brunches, where we talk about food, news about relatives, and what else, personal finance! (Totally serious about the last point).
On love & travel:
CB and I are planning to go away somewhere around Christmas time… I am so excited. Things are generally
, and I’ll stop at that because I don’t want to delve into sentimental superlatives. My friend told me something that I call his “Don’t Be a Jerk” theory, which basically goes like this: don’t be a jerk to the people you care about. Simple theory, no? It’s a great relationship rule, I’ve found.

Thanks for the link back to the Carnival!
That’s exciting that you and CB are going somewhere! Do you know where?
Love the “Don’t Be a Jerk” theory! How true is it. Have fun on your vacation!
Go to Argentina. My wife and I are going in November… maybe we will take some Tango lessons
Tango would be so much fun to learn! I’d be so nervous dancing in 3.5 inch stilettos though! I’m more of a flip flops kind of girl, but that would probably look rather funny while dancing the tango, huh?
That’s so awesome that you and CB are going away together! So exciting! I hope it’s somewhere fun and romantic at the same time.
Yay for traveling with your love! I second Matt’s suggestion, although is CB a tanguero?
