Halloween’s almost here! Given that the holiday falls on a Saturday this year, I am even more excited about dressing up. I don’t like to buy pre-made outfits, though, so I’ve decided I’m going to try my hand at one of three costumes (see the details on this BlogHer post). This year, I’m deciding between a Black Widow, a Cowgirl, or a Ballerina (specifically Odile – the black swan – from Swan Lake).
In my Halloween’s past, I’ve been a witch (all through out middle school and high school), a baby (middle school), a very covered-up belly dancer (elementary), a political bride protesting domestic violence (I dressed up in a white gown and had a sign that says Love Shouldn’t Hurt – college), a princess (college), and a leprechaun (last year).
I’ll be assembling my own outfits because commercial offerings can be quite expensive ($40+), and because I am just not adventurous enough to wear some of those outfits! I might send some pictures of my costume to my grandma, and, well, I don’t want to make her blush!

The ballerina idea is pretty cool! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to access the BlogHer link. I had first intended to be a ringmaster, but found it impossible to obtain a red tail coat. So now, i’m going to be a Victorian character, dressed completely in black, with a top hat. And i’m going to make my face super pale. I just need a cane. Hopefully that will work out. I’m not too excited about dressing up for Halloween. I prefer decorating the apartment/office!
Haha, I love the leprechaun idea! Not sure what I’ll do this year but my top favorite costumes I’ve done was dressing up as a garden gnome and then as a ’50s housewife. Have fun!

I’m going to be a wedding attendee in a black strapless dress…because I have to go to a wedding this Halloween!!

N and I are going to be Brooklyn hipsters — I’m going to wear skinny jeans, leg warmers, ridiculous blue plastic sunglasses, and lots of plaid. We’re also going to tie empty cans of PBR to our wrists, wear iPod earbuds, and tell everyone else that their favorite music sucks.
I don’t like dressing up…and honestly, I don’t like Halloween that much. I love decorating for Fall, and I love carving pumpkins, but that’s about it. Unfortunately, I always end up suckered into going out in some fashion, and I have to pull a costume together at the last minute. This year, a friend is having a “cartoon superheroes” themed party, so I’m going as Kim Possible. My wig hasn’t come in the mail yet though, so we’ll see how it turns out.
Truthfully, I would rather just stay in and hand out candy!
I’m not sure what I’m going to be this year, but last year I was a panda and the year before I was a hot air balloon. Both of them were big hits! I need to get cracking on this years costume.

I don’t care much for halloween, but I can’t really go to a costume party without a costume. If I’m feeling lame, I’ll put on my animal ears & tail (I think it was a tiger) and call that a costume. I’m hoping to come up with something better.

I’m going as Baby from Dirty Dancing. Since I was not feeling confident on finding the dress she wears in the finale scene (couldn’t find anything similar to it at local thrift stores), I’m dressing from the scene in the studio when she and Johnny are singing Lover Boy to each other. That costume is pretty simple. I already had the white button down shirt. I bought some high waist jeans for $12 at Wal-Mart and cut them off. And I had the Ked sneakers in my closet. Woo for inexpensive costumes! David is, of course, going as Johnny.
But we’re doing it as a larger group of Patrick Swayze characters (and the women he enchants). David’s friends are going as Point Break Swayze, Ghost Swayze and Road House Swayze.
The original plan was to be Superman/Superwoman…I guess Super Couple with the BF, but a quick check on the funds and we realized we’re going to have to keep it close to home. So we’re going as CEO and Secretary. LOL.
Going as FLO the spokesperson from Progressive Auto Insurance, I kind of look like her, so why not
