I’ve had my hands on Illustrator & Photoshop CS3 for a while now, but I don’t really know much about the two programs, at all. But I want to learn! I have grand visions of making a header that is as awesome as that of this lady.
So if you know of any tutorials that would be helpful for an absolute newbie, please email me or leave a comment. I thank you! I like the Missing Manual books, but they only have a manual for Photoshop CS4.
(On a side note, from what little I’ve been playing around with Photoshop, I’ve been having a blast with photo-retouching. Now I completely understand why stars are so insistent on retouching all their released photos. If there is interest, I can put up some of retouched photos of stars / stock photos for suggestions / critiques).

Creative Techs has courses in all the Adobe software. I’ve taken both the Illustrator and Photoshop courses. They’re live webinars, and I think it’s still the case that the course was free if you participated in the webinar, and it was $50 for the course download to reference at will. Currently, I only see the Photoshop course, but perhaps if you email them, they’ll give you more info.
Also, I found the Illustrator for Dummies book to be really helpful.
I don’t have photoshop so I’m not sure if this is really all that helpful but I know I’ve seen some tutorials at webdesigndev.com. They have a photoshop category right in the middle of the page that might be helpful. Good luck!
Thanks for the mention!

If you want some hands-on training, I just remembered that I used http://www.lynda.com/ to get started on Illustrator. They have videos and accompanying documents for each lesson, and it’s a steal at $25 a month.
