When did you start seeing results from the 30 Day Shred?
(Jillian can bully me all she wants if I can get abs like hers.)
Today will be Day 5. It’s funny – every day I’m reluctant to start the pain The Shred, but once I begin the workout becomes more bearable. It’s still hard and it hurts, but starting means that I’m only 20 minutes away from finishing the workout for the day. Though I know I need to allow Jillian to do her magic for the next 25 days, I’m getting a bit impatient for results.
The workouts are still difficult. Still on Level 1. Doing pushups with knees. Can’t finish the arm presses. Most definitely still get winded during the jump rope sequence (I actually find jumping jacks and butt kicks much easier than jump rope).
I suppose I feel a little bit stronger when it comes to some of the cardio, but that might also be wistful thinking. While grocery shopping with mom yesterday, I deliberately parked the car at the very other end of the parking lot so we’d have to walk further. But I also did the Shred for the day – no false messages of lethargy for me, Jillian!
After Day 4 (yesterday) I am a little less sore than I was the previous days. I even managed to go to a 1.5 hour tango session after doing the Shred an hour earlier. So I consider that progress. But soon I hope progress would also be marked by the measuring tape.
Must remind self that just as I did not get to my current state of physical (un)fitness in 5 days, it’s unrealistic to expect me to turn into a Jillian carbon-copy in 5 days (or 5 years – ha!).

I donno, I gotta be honest. If my significant other had guns like Jillian's… I'd run and hide. Don't go too overboard ladies!
Hahaha. I think it's generally difficult for women to bulk up, so don't fear.
I'd like firm arms though.. maybe not as defined as Jillian's.
Slow and steady wins the race. You can do it!
I was wondering the same, however I'm skipping Shred today (*the screams*). I haven't miss to the gym in a while, so I decided to tear up a treadmill later. I promise I won't "phone it in" and will be crawling after getting off the treadmill (I'm usually on for at least a half hour). So, I think it is okay. I hope! I feel guility, but so does my wallet and gym membership.
I am having a similar experience.
I do push ups from the modified position as well. But, I do think that I can see improvement over my very, very poor excuse of a push up on day 1. When it comes to the 1 minute of abs, I usually flake out long before the minute is up. And, I agree with you about the cardio… jump rope is killer.
I just finished Day 5. My general soreness is almost completely gone (It doesn’t hurt to breath anymore). Maybe that means that I am not pushing myself hard enough? I do still get sore for a few hours after the workout.
It may be a little soon to be *seeing* results. But, I do think that I can feel a difference from Day 1.
Just remember: Daily Routine x Time = where you are today…
And: Change in Daily Routine x Time = where you want to be…
Today is my Day 5 (haven't done it yet), but I woke up this morning and was shocked by how NOT sore I am. There is still some soreness in my calves, but overall I feel 10x better than I did on the mornings of Day 2 or Day 3.
Are you doing 30 consecutive days? I took off weekends to let my muscles heal. It made Day 6 *much* easier.
I'm aiming for 30 consecutive days. Then after that, I hope to do the Shred and some of Jillian's other DVDs.
My first day was yesterday (I had just received the DVD.) I am really sore today. I also have to do the push-ups on my knees and couldn't finish the arm presses. I used 5 lbs weights yesterday, but I think I will try the 3 lbs instead today. I didn't think the cardio was too difficult, but I ride my bike quite a bit so I think I'm just used to getting my heart rate up. But my arms, oh my arms, are spaghetti! They are so weak. I'm hoping that as the days pass, my arms will become stronger. As for Jillian's presence, I like her bullying style. It is pretty motivating. Keep up the great work! I'm feeling the burn too!
I'm not upset that I haven't seen results yet…it hasn't even been a week. I'm just worried that I won't see results after the 30 days…then I'll be upset. I've started going on short runs a few days a week. I hope the extra cardio will help.
Same here. Although from what I've read online most people start seeing some changes in tone / definition after 10 days.
You'll see them Diva! I just know it!!! Keep with it. =D
Ohhh, so I am not the only one doing push ups on my knees? Thank goodness!
I'm sure with any workout, after doing it diligently for 30 days, you will see SOME results. Keep at 'er!!
Hahaha I'm also doing the push ups on my knees. But today I was able to do 9 on each set! I was SOOOOO proud. That was definitely an improvement over Day 1 when I think I did 5 on the first set and maybe 3 on the second. So I'm getting stronger. I'm also starting to go deeper with the leg exercises, but have yet to put weights into my squat press. They still hurt even without any weight!
I am definitely not sore anymore, and I can tell that my body is ready for a different workout routine. Just finished Day 6 this morning.
The one thing that I do love is A) getting up and knowing my workout is only going to take 20 minutes (no driving, ect, woo!) and B) having all you ladies to rely on for support!
I have done the workout now 8x. I went to Level 2 for some change and it did burn the next day. So far I have lost 2.5lbs since I started working out on 1/4. But I have also been eating better and running 2 miles 3x a week along with the shred.
My daughter is more motivating than Jillian. She sits there eating a cookie telling me she said squat, that isn't a squat mom…you can do better than that! She is rotten
I'm the same with my mum. I do my shred in the morning/midday before I go to college and she does i in the evening and I have to translate for her (she doesn't speak English and the DVD is not in Spanish) and then tell her "Nope, you're doing it wrong!".
I'm able to do more push ups (I had a set back and missed 2 days of exercise because I was without electricity for 48 + hours ¬¬) and I can feel my arms get firmer (I'm on day 7) but then again I'm one of those people who start getting firmer as soon as they start working out.
My endurance is better and I don't get sore anymore
.
Last night my friends were like "How many jackets are you wearing?" "Three" "And you look so skinny, what are YOU doing?"
I can relate to Melissa's comment. I've done fitness dvds at home for years now (though very little the past two years) and I would get similar comments from my daughter. She is now age 11 and saw me previewing the dvd last Sunday. She said, "Mom, you can't do that, you usually do yoga. Mom, you'll break a hip, you can't do that. You'll break a hip!" I was proud to tell her after my first workout last Monday that I did not break a hip.
AFA results, I'm sure I'll see them quicker if I can just stay away from the damn sugar!!!!!
I am really loving the Shred!! Finishing the workouts (and sticking to them!) seems so much more attainable since they are only 20 minutes. I am also still doing push-ups in my knees. I just switched to level 2 (I started the Shred about a week early) and Good gracious, Jillian is a crazy lady! Whew! I convinced my husband to do the workout with me and he thought it was pretty killer! Keep it up ladies! I am starting to see a little more definition in my abs after 7 days!
I'm on day two since I only found the dvd a few days earlier – I was looking for weeks and it seemed to be sold out wherever I went! I have to say that I too am doing the pushups on my knees, and although I don't mind the abs too much, it's the jumping jacks that I hate! I do have wimpy arms for the lunges/lifts as well though so I am hoping to see some improvement as I continue.
So, how did the whole 30 day thing end up? I don’t remember seeing any feedback after it ended.
