The Power of Accountability

Before I started the Shred, if you would’ve told me I’d exercise on the weekends, I would’ve laughed.

But guess what I was doing at 9 PM on a Saturday? Day 6 of the Shred!

I am now officially done with 20% of the 30 Day Shred. Time for some dinner as celebration. icon smile The Power of Accountability

I just ordered the Shred! Here’s to hoping I can make it through it!

  2. You go girl!! I had to give it up, I had a serious flu/food poisoning bout. I am still recovering.

Good for you! It's amazing what a little external motivation will do for ya eh? I was up and at the gym this morning, despite a late night out, because I told my friend I'd be there, and I'm glad I did. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  4. Congrats! So is it as tough as I've heard it is?

Sounds like it working out perfectly for you!

    • WellHeeled says:

It's pretty tough. Jillian crams EVERYTHING into 20 minutes (strength, cardio, abs) and she never works one muscle at once. But it's only a 20-minute workout, so at least there's that. :)

  5. This sounds like a good program. When I earn enough swagbucks I think I will buy it. It may be a while though. I'm about half way there. Maybe by the time my gym membership expires (April)which would be perfect timing!! I hope you continue to see and feel results!

    Way to go!

I was not looking forward to working out this weekend either. However, I did feel good about myself for sticking to my goal of 30 consecutive days. Now, I am starting to wonder if dreading “The Shred” is worse than doing the actual workout. (This is turning out to be as much of a mental challenge as it is physical!)

    • WellHeeled says:

Exercising for 30 consecutive days is definitely mental *and* physical for me. Especially on the weekends when the last thing I want to do is to spend quality time with Jillian and her pair of unbelievably fit buddies.

Awesome! How do you feel so far? Sore? Are you changing your eating habits at all? I'm about to start tomorrow!

I started the Shred Challenge tonight after getting the weights/DVD on Friday. Yes, a week late, but that's okay. :] I run 4x/week (have always been fairly active, working out at least 3-5 days) but have been seriously slacking with my weight training/abs as of late, so that's what I am most excited about.

After going through the exercises for Day 1 (using 5 lb. weights – I couldn't force myself to buy 3 lb. weights, lol), I was definitely sweaty, but not tired. My legs and arms felt worked but not sore. I'm curious as to whether or not I'll be sore tomorrow.

I started a "fitness challenge" with some girlfriends in Dec. to lose 5 lbs. and I did, just working out with cardio like I have been and tracking my calories on SparkPeople. I'm hoping that adding the Shred to my routine will shake things up a bit to get me down 5 more lbs. at the end of January, which would be my goal weight.

Here goes, and good luck to everyone else! :]

Congrats on starting the Shred challenge! If you're not feeling challenged after a few days on Level 1, you can always go into Level 2. I'm on Day 7 (just completed!) and I still feel sore after workouts, although by no means as sore as I was after Day 1-3.

      Best of luck to you!

  9. savvy says:

I did Day 1 yesterday. I bought the DVD and some 3 lb weights over the weekend. I'm sore but thankfully not as much as I thought. I plan to do Day 2 tonight. Day 3 will be delayed until Wednesday though because I have class until 9pm on Tues/Thur.

Woot! I know that having you guys around on Twitter helped me this weekend for sure! I almost didn't do Sunday, but then I thought about how disappointed everyone in the blogosphere would be. So I did it and it felt GREAT!

  11. Little House says:

I'll be on day 5 tonight. My arms had to adjust, they felt like they were going to fall off on day 2! I think I'll ramp it up to Level 2 tonight so that the workout doesn't get monotonous. I have to say that I started with 5 lb weights, but had to knock it down to 3 lb weights. Now I can keep up with the arm movements, I have toothpicks for arms :( .

    • WellHeeled says:

I still have trouble with the arm presses.. but I can tell that there's a difference between Day 7 and Day 1. Congrats on taking it to Level 2.. let us know how that is!
