Merry Christmas to all my wonderful readers!!!
Hope you all got what you wanted under the tree! My gifts included a gorgeous pearl-and-sugar-crystal necklace… handmade… by CB’s mom. I had actually coveted it for a long time and she finally decided to give it to me.
I will be resting at home because I sprained my ankle! That’s a really big bummer. At least it’s an excuse to sit on the couch, drink lots of hot cocoa, and watch holiday-themed movies.
I would be sad that I can’t partake in after-Christmas sales, but with the power of internet, even a lame-footed blogger such as I can join in the post-holiday shopping. It’s dangerous, though, because I’ve been spending all day surfing J.Crew, Banana Republic, Gap, and Ann Taylor.
During this down time I will also be taking some time to think about my financial goals for 2011 (see here for how I did on 2010 goals). Watch for the 2011 Goals Post next week.
Are you planning on doing any after-Christmas shopping? Online or in-person?

Oof! Sorry to hear about your ankle! I hope you have fun sipping hot cocoa and perusing the online sales. I think my husband will be dragging me out to spend his holiday money tomorrow!
Sounds like a wonderful Christmas (minus the ankle sprain). Wishing you a speedy recovery. No shopping for me after Christmas and I did minimal shopping for Christmas. I used all my bonus points from everywhere and re-gifted to give my family gifts. I don't have any savings, I didn't budget for Christmas and I refused to use my credit cards.
Fortunately, no one noticed a big difference in the caliber of gifts I got this year and the caliber I usually give. Thanks for your blog on personal finance and always talking about money. Blogs like these keep me on my toes and help me to make financial decisions that benefit me during the holiday season.
Merry Christmas!
Thanks for your kind words and good job on resisting the after-Christmas sales! I'm trying to do the same…
Awww hope it heals quickly. Glad you had a nice Christmas
hope your ankle heals quickly!
i did a little after sale shopping today–snagged a blazer and purse. i had been stalking both items for a couple months. patience was rewarded with discounts in excess of 50% on both items
Nice! More money for a follow-on New Zealand trip?
Sorry to hear bout the ankle… like before xmas I'll be avoiding the mall after xmas as well, so mostly online shopping. Hope 2011 starts off on the right foot for you.
Sorry to hear about your ankle. You can do some curls in your seated position so you don't lose all of your exercise motivation.
Isn't Jcrew the best? I haven't done any after Christmas shopping just yet, but I will be going out later this afternoon for a few new things. Happy New Year!
The curls are good idea. I am just antsy to get back into Bar Method. We do a lot of work there in relevé (raising on the balls of the foot), so I don't want to be too eager and put too much weight on my ankle too soon.
Yep! I needed a parka for winter sports/snow and got a 3-in-1 for half price. I hit up the Ann Taylor 40% off storewide sale for a couple merino cardigans to replace the ones I've lost to moths.
It's a great time to pickup staple items if you need to buy or replace them!
Now you have tempted me to go look at AT…
