I know the deadline's over… but anyway wanted to share my story… My fiancee and I used to work at the same place and were going on a week long leave to get married. We were leaving the office and we met our boss outside the elevator. He congratulated us and asked us about plans after marriage. We kind of indicated that we were financing our own marriage and were not honeymooning… atleast not immediately after marriage. Later that nice, the company accountant called me up and said that a $2500 had been deposited in my account by the boss as a bonus of sorts and we should go for a honeymoon.
I still work for that company
When I lived in overseas, my roommate's father passed away. I got the insurance details worked out, her plane ticket arranged for and she was on US soil in less than 24 hours. Obviously there was no time to notify the university of the situation before I she left, but the next day I got a call from the dean of the program thanking me for taking care of the situation. It meant a lot that he called to make sure everything was ok. When you're far away from home these little things matter so much!
My most memorable thank you was from my VP thanking me for my work, she bought tickets for my daughter and I to see Kelley Clarkson and Clay Aiken when they were touring together in 2004. It was great day!
