MBA experience thus far: a list

What I love about business school

  • Living within 15 minutes of all of my friends at school
  • Meeting so many new, cool, interesting, smart people, who also want to be friends with me!
  • Becoming a student again… and feeling that moment of clarity when I FINALLY UNDERSTAND that statistics or microeconomics problem
  • I am never bored. Seriously, I am never bored. There is always something to do, something to study for, someone to see, or some event to attend. It’s incredible.
  • Opportunity to redefine myself and transition to a new career

What I don’t love about business school

  • No money (enough said)
  • Not enough time to do everything I want to do
  • Not enough time to attend every event I want to attend
  • Not enough time to hang out with friends
  • Those moments of clarity in statistics and microeconomics are much sparser than I’d prefer
  • Finding a job

In sum, I am having an enriching, educational, stressful, fun, busy, awesome time of my life.:)

How are you all doing?

  • Paige - Well put! I'd say that sums up law school for me pretty well right now, but with finding a job in bold and underlined. ReplyCancel

  • Little House - That summed it up for me when I was finishing up my credential. It sounds like you're fully enjoying your experience! ReplyCancel

  • frugalportland - Sounds like you made the right decision to go! ReplyCancel

  • Anne @ Unique Gifter - All you have to remember is that X marks the spot in economics, simple, no? I'm totally kidding that it's all simple, don't worry.
I definitely miss the intellectual aspects of grad school, like you've mentioned about all of the interesting people and things to discuss. ReplyCancel

  • Lance@MoneyLife&More - Undergrad was similar to me! I hated not having any serious money but loved being around all the people all the time. ReplyCancel

  • Jordann - I'm really interested to hear about your MBA experiences since it's something I'm interested in pursuing in the next few years, keep the posts coming! ReplyCancel

  • My Money Design - Oh, those were the days! I remember my first day of MBA school. The teacher passed out the syllabus, and it was full of due dates and term papers. I said to myself "what the hell did I get myself into!" ReplyCancel

  • My Money Design - The moment of clarity thing is highly under-rated! I remember sitting in a study group working on an assignment for hours when all of the sudden the answer would just hit you! It was like winning the lottery! ReplyCancel

  • The Asian Pear - I did my grad classes part-time while I worked. I just finished up in July & will be graduating next month. The one thing I can advise is rest and relax when you can. Cause it's a busy time. ReplyCancel

  • Financial Samurai - It'll go by in a second! Enjoy! ReplyCancel

  • parvinder - I love my MBA. It's a great fun for me. I always enjoyed numbers. Yah it's a little bit engaging, but I'm having fun. ReplyCancel

  • Crystal @ PET - We bought our dream home and are settling in, so I am also having the most "stressful, fun, busy, awesome " time of my life. And we also feel broke. So the only real difference is that we have enough time to see friends and aren't really enriching ourselves at all right now, lol. Good luck! ReplyCancel
